About Amara
Amara specialises in going over the Kaipara bar onto the Tasman sea. She is 20 meters long and has a cruising speed of 20 knots. We have a cabin with indoor seating, covered outdoor seating and a toilet. We are fully surveyed and insured.
About the Skipper
The Skipper, Mark Donaldson, is a local with over 40 years of experience as a commercial fisherman in the Kaipara. He knows all the best spots for catching fish. “Once you go fishing with me on my boat, you won’t want to go with anyone else.”
Fish
We specialise in fishing over the bar on the Tasman sea and catch a variety of fish including Snapper, Kingfish, Gurnard and Kahawai.
We Only Take Group Bookings!
Cost is $5,000 for a group with up to 25 people for 8 hours or until the quota is met, whichever comes first. The departure time is tide based and you will be notified of what time to arrive when you book. There are more available weekdays as the weekends are very popular.

Bring your own fishing rods, bait, ice and chilly bins (for transporting fish home). You must bring your own food and drinks and you are required to take home your own rubbish.
Our address is 3680 Kaipara Coast Highway (a.k.a SH16), opposite the Mangakura Boat Club. Approximately one hour north of Auckland CBD. We have secure private parking on our property.
